Provisional Program

Be a part of this year’s Conference. We have designed the program to maximise the involvement of delegates and there will be opportunities for you to contribute to debates, ask questions of the experts and interact with other delegates who share your special interests. This is an opportunity to speak your mind, influence your colleagues and help steer the aged care agenda for the coming year.

Productivity Commission Consultation
The Australian Government has asked the Productivity Commission to develop detailed options for restructuring Australia’s aged care system. Deputy Chairman, Mike Woods, will run a consultation with regional, rural and remote providers to gain a greater appreciation of the issues they face and the solutions they desire. Numbers are limited so those interested will need to register. Come along and have your say.

The “Grey Transfer” Marketing Panel with Russel Howcroft
In the style of ABC’s The Gruen Transfer – ACSA will be joined by some of the best and brightest minds of the advertising industry, experts prepared to share their ideas and the insights that drive them. Questions will be posed to the Panellists who will face a series of challenges designed to show the thought processes – and, often, the brilliance – of advertising, as well as its understanding of who we are and what we want. Our panel will bring examples and examine the current tactics used to promote and sell Aged Care in Australia.

Clear SolarClear Solar Cook Off
Local chef and coordinator of the Taste of Huon Cook Off Paul Cullen will host the Clear Solar Cook Off during lunch on Monday 20 September. Three selected chefs from the aged care industry will be given the same main ingredient and a mystery box of other ingredients from which they will be asked to produce their best meal for a person in Aged Care. The meals will be presented to a panel of judges.

The Silver Bullet Workforce Debate - “It’s just not that hard”
A humorous, adversarial and topical debate. Each team of industry panellists will present key ideas to solve the current workforce issues the sector is facing. Each team will debate the merits of their policy platform and why it should be implemented. They also have the opportunity to tear apart the concepts presented by the other team. Come along and vote for the team you believe presents the best solution to the current issues.

Policy, Politics and Provider Interaction Session
The final day of the Conference features an opportunity to engage with the experts on hot issues of the day.

This program is an overview and will be updated as planning proceeds. The session and function times may change in the final program. Please check this page regularly.
