Joshua Brownlie

After graduating from the University of Tasmania in 1996 with a
Combined Degree in Commerce and Laws, Mr Brownlie worked with
international accounting firm, KPMG in Sydney, where he then
qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in Australia Josh worked as an auditor in the
Financial Services and Property sectors before taking a 2.5 year
secondment to KPMG Hong Kong in late 2000. Working with clients from
a variety of sectors including hotels, construction, advertising and
mobile telephony, he then took up a role as Training Manager for
KPMG Hong Kong & China, where he implemented the roll-out of KPMG’s
then-new global audit software and training modules in Hong Kong,
Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumper and Tokyo.
In 2003, he left KPMG
to become a founding member of Oxia . This start-up venture began
with a clean sheet of paper in May 2003 and over the next four years
raised over USD$3m in venture capital and took the product from an
idea to market in over 7 countries where its customers have included
the prestigious Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Avenue in New York, a number
of Westin Hotel properties and many of the USA’s NHL Ice Hockey
teams.
In 2006, through
Joshua’s connection with ADPA (his father is Russell Brownlie,
Federal Vice President and Tasmanian President) he was asked to use
his accounting skills to combine previously obtained data (W.D.
Scott and S.O. Sedger 1994) into a user friendly computerised
format. Extensive re-working was required however over a period of
18 months the ‘ADPA Denture Cost Calculator’ was created.
Mr Scott Donoghue
Mr Donoghue is the PrincipaI of Retirement Tasmania, a financial
planning practice based in Hobart which is part of the IRIS
Financial Group Ltd. Unlike many large Financial Planning firms,
IRIS has no Institutional ownership or control, rather individual
practices own all shares. He has worked as a Financial Adviser since
January 1994. During this period Scott has been a Principal and
Adviser in two separate offices. He is Chair of the IRIS Investment
Committee which oversees the investment of around $600 million on
behalf of clients.
Mr Donoghue holds a
Diploma of Teaching (Primary) from Australian Catholic University, a
Diploma of Financial Planning and a Graduate Diploma of Applied
Science from Deakin University and a Masters Degree in Financial
Planning from the University of Sunshine Coast. He also holds the
internationally recognised Certified Financial Planner (CFP®)
qualification from the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).
In 1999 he was selected
as being in the Top 50 financial planners in Australia by Personal
Investment magazine. He has also continuously been the regular
Financial Planning talkback and consultative specialist on ABC
Statewide radio for over 10 years.
Ms Colleen McGann
Colleen is Vice
Chairman of the Australian Health Insurance Association, a position
she has held since 2003. She commenced employment at St Luke’s
Health Insurance Head Office in February, 1962 and during her
employment there undertook academic studies at T.A.F.E. in
Accounting and later in Business Administration. She
progressed from mail clerk through each administrative level up to
Managing Director, which is the position she holds today.
Colleen has worked in the Health Industry for the past forty five
(45) years and is currently Managing Director of St Lukes Health.
Colleen also holds the
position of Vice President of the industry body – Australian Health
Insurance Association, is a ministerial appointment to the
Prostheses and Devices Committee and Chairman of many national
committees on behalf of the Industry. She is also President of the
Australian Regional Health Group. For eighteen (18) years, until
May, 2004, Colleen was actively involved with the management of St
Luke’s Private Hospital and held the position of Managing Director
at the time of the sale of the hospital. Colleen is actively
involved in other organisations such as Rotary, MyState Financial
Foundation and is a Director of Tastel Community Telco. Colleen was
named Telstra Tasmanian Business Woman of the Year in 2002.
Colleen has the
enjoyable hobbies of walking, reading, theatre going and travel. She
joined the Rotary Club of Launceston on 17 May, 1995 and became
President of that club on 28 June, 2000.
Mr Ian Chambers
Mr Chambers is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon currently in Private
Practice at St John’s Hospital, Calvary Health Care Tasmania and a
Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at Royal Hobart Hospital.
With specialist qualifications in Oral Surgery (MDSc ) ; Oral
Surgery & Oral Medicine (FFDRCSI) and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (FRACDS(OMS)
Dr Jeffrey Mount
Dr Mount completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University
of Adelaide (1974), military service as a Surgeon Lieutenant with
the RAN (1974/75), Master of Science at the University of London
(1978/79) and became a member of the Royal Australasian
College of Dental Surgeons in 1989. He was principal of a large
general practice in Adelaide CBD for thirty years, focused on
restorative dentistry and implants, prior to making the ‘sea change’
to Hobart. He is practising part time in restorative dentistry. Dr
Mount has taught and lectured extensively, within Australia and
throughout the world, across a diverse range of subjects at
universities including a 12-month sabbatical, full time position as
clinical lecturer to the Master of Science students in the
Conservative Dentistry Department, Eastman Dental Institute,
University College London, whilst continuing guest lectures
throughout UK, central Europe and the USA.
Dr Mount has held many
key positions within the profession, including President and
Chairman of the South Australian Foundation for Dental Education &
Research, Board Member of the Colgate Australian Clinical Dental
Research Centre, Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International
and of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and Chairman of
the Scientific Program Committee for the Australian Dental
Association Congress.
Ms Tracy Penn
Ms Penn has developed a broad range of management skills through her
roles as a practice manager in the dental industry and dental
related fields over the past 22 years. Her management roles have
involved responsibility for large teams of people and process
functions within those practices. Tracy has augmented this practical
experience through the completion of a Diploma in Practice
Management with Financial Management Research Centre and a
Behavioural Dental Science Diploma.
Tracy now works for
Software of Excellence Pty Ltd as Sales and Business Development
Manager; she also works as a consultant providing dedicated business
management and training to many practices and their teams as well as
developing and running The Oasis Academy. As a public speaker Tracy
is a dynamic communicator who provides practical, real-world
training that delivers proven skills for achieving remarkable
results. She has been sought by many national bodies such as the
Australian Dental Association (ADA), Australian Dental Prosthetist
Association (ADPA) and the Australian Association of Practice
Managers (AAPM) to present lectures and hands-on training for their
members and delegates.
Dr Paul Taylor
Dr Taylor has been practising part-time as a forensic dentist for 18
years. His local work involves identification of deceased victims of
crimes and accidents where visual identification is not possible. He
also assists the police with investigations of incidents where his
dental and technical expertise are useful. Paul has been involved in
the investigation of some high profile incidents including the Port
Arthur shootings. He was deployed to Bali after the bombings and in
2005 spent 2 months in Thailand with the Australian Federal Police
teams doing post-mortem examinations and dental identifications on
tsunami victims.
As a member of the
Australian Defence Force High Readiness Specialist Reserve, he has
undergone and maintains full military training for immediate
deployment with forensic teams to any area of Australia’s strategic
interest, including Iraq and Afghanistan. He holds a Bachelor of
Dental Surgery, a Master of Science in Dentistry, is a Fellow of the
Academy of Dentistry International and is one of only a few forensic
odontologists in Australia to have gained specialist recognition by
a state dental registration board.
Associate Professor Greg Woods
Professor Woods completed an undergraduate degree (BSc(Hons)) at
Monash University, postgraduate degree at the University of Tasmania
(PhD) and has worked as a research scientist in Toronto, Canada;
London, England and Edinburgh, Scotland. Appointed to the University
of Tasmania in 1989 and joined the Menzies Research Institute in
2006. Current appointments: Member, Menzies Research Institute,
University of Tasmania; Associate Professor, School of Medicine,
University of Tasmania and Associate Head Student Affairs, School of
Medicine, University of Tasmania
Professor Woods has an
international research profile having contributed significantly to
the field of dendritic cells, specifically in the area of Langerhans
cells, cancer and the development of the neonatal skin immune
system, the effect of sunlight on the developing skin immune system
and the role of vitamin D3. He was one of the first in the world to
indicate that immature dendritic cells induce suppression. Since
undertaking studies on the Tasmanian devil major progress has been
made in understanding its immune system and how devil facial tumour
disease (DFTD) escapes immune recognition. Involvement with the
Devil Facial Tumour Disease has created unique opportunities and
research programmes. He showed for the first time that devils can
produce an immune response to DFTD. |
