July 2012 will feature the 7th Family Day Care Australia National Conference. The conference will run between 18-21 July at the magnificent Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The conference theme is ‘Children the heart of the Dream’. With children at the centre of what we do, we unite in a common goal, to harness the unique benefits of family day care and to strive for excellence in providing unrivalled outcomes for children.
As has been the case in previous FDCA Conferences, the organising committee are enlisting a diverse and high calibre program of respected presenters and facilitators. Blended with an outstandingsocial program to
network with colleagues you will leave ‘Children the Heart of the Dream’ inspired, informed andunited in our mission to make family day care excellent childcare ... at home!
Presenters, keynote speakers and workshop sessions will focus around 3 key streams:
Celebrate Children - their strengths and their ability to learn, communicate, develop relationships, personal identity and spirituality
Challenge our Practices – to firmly embed children ‘at the heart of the dream’. A critical review of our work to reconstruct the ‘practice’ of managers, coordination-unit staff and educators, around quality outcomes for children.
Connect with Others – to look locally and globally at research and evidence based best practice and to share experiences that build our knowledge bank.

Our role is to resource and promote family day care services to ensure the strength and continued growth of the sector in Australia. The International Family Day Care Organisation (IFDCO) is proud to share in hosting the 7th Family Day Care Australia National Conference in Brisbane in 2012.
The aims of IFDCO are to facilitate a network of members worldwide. To promote, research and improve the quality of child care and educational opportunities in home based environments and to learn from leaders of best practice in education and child care internationally. IFDCO hosts conferences tri-annually in various world locations.
Study tours of child care related services and facilities in the host countries are always a popular addition to the conferences. These study tours encompass a great deal of international learning and social networking amongst delegates from many countries.
